TIN MOUNTAIN

The Tin Mountain Mine is renowned for very large crystals of spodumene visible in the walls of the stopes and underground drives

The historical Tin Mountain Mine, a remarkable site first claimed by the Tin Mountain Co. back in 1889.

Known for its mineral-rich pegmatite composition, the mine’s initial operations focused on extracting tin and beryllium.

However, its potential didn’t stop there. As the mining industry evolved, the Tin Mountain Mine also became a significant source of lithium spodumene, mined from three pits with underground stopes.

What sets Tin Mountain Mine apart is its spectacular display of enormous spodumene crystals in the exposed pegmatite – a sight that has earned it well-deserved fame. Visitors can even witness the spodumene mineralization within the wall rock of the historic adits.

Historical records indicate that six diamond holes were drilled into the Tin Mountain Mine. Although these samples weren’t assayed for lithium at the time, the geology logs do document the presence of spodumene-rich core and outer-core zones within the Tin Mountain pegmatite. The Tin Mountain Mine stands as a testament to the rich geological history and potential that lies beneath our feet.
